Developers behind the new Grand Hyatt convention center hotel in Miami Beach have applied for a drainage system construction permit.
The Class VI Permit application was submitted to Miami-Dade last week, detailing plans for six interconnected drainage wells and related infrastructure at an estimated cost of $500,000. Balfour Beatty is listed as the contractor.
Construction on the drainage system is expected to begin on April 1, 2025, and continue through April 1, 2027.
In October, Miami-Dade approved a grant of up to $92.5 million for the project. At that time, hotel construction was scheduled to start in mid-2025, with completion projected for Q3 2027.
The Grand Hyatt Miami Beach is set to feature:
- 800 guest rooms, including 48 suites
- Resort-style amenities, such as a gym, two pools, and a pool deck
- 90,000 square feet of indoor meeting and conference space, plus 10,000 square feet of outdoor space
- Five dining venues, including a signature restaurant that is already leased
- A Grand Hyatt club lounge
- 320 parking spaces
The project is being developed by David Martin of Terra Group and Jackie Soffer of Turnberry, with Arquitectonica’s Bernardo Fort-Brescia as the architect.
