Mercante Ristorante & Piano Bar Brings Italian Riviera Dining to Miami River in 2027
Miami’s evolving waterfront dining scene is set to welcome an exciting new addition with Mercante Ristorante & Piano Bar, a restaurant inspired by the charm, cuisine, and leisurely lifestyle of the Italian Riviera. Scheduled to open in January 2027 at 404 NW North River Drive, Mercante will bring together authentic Italian cooking, waterfront views, live entertainment, and an elegant European-inspired atmosphere. The project is being developed by renowned Miami restaurateur Nicola Siervo in partnership with Roman Jones of House Kiki, the hospitality group behind Kiki on the River and Habibi.
A New Italian Dining Destination on the Miami River
Mercante represents the latest chapter in Miami's transformation of the Miami River into a premier destination for dining and entertainment. For Nicola Siervo, whose hospitality career includes influential venues such as Quattro Gastronomia Italiana, Mynt, WALL, and W South Beach, the neighborhood brings back memories of Miami Beach's early evolution as an international lifestyle destination.
Inspired by Italy's coastal dining culture, Mercante aims to recreate the relaxed atmosphere of Mediterranean restaurants, where long lunches, exceptional wine, fresh seafood, and lively conversations are part of everyday life.
The restaurant's design is being developed by Miami-based Nikolai Design under the direction of Mark Lehmkuhl, House Kiki's Chief Design Officer. Guests can expect a whitewashed exterior covered in climbing ivy, striped awnings, and a vintage turquoise Fiat 500. Inside, the restaurant will feature a Venetian-inspired aesthetic with high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, vintage accents, polished brass, and marble finishes.
One of the highlights will be the waterfront terrace, featuring a vine-covered pergola overlooking the Miami River. With approximately 175 seats, a private dockside dining area for up to 20 guests, and a 150-foot dock, Mercante will also offer a distinctive opportunity for boaters to arrive directly at the restaurant.
Traditional Italian Cuisine and Coastal Flavors
At the heart of Mercante will be a menu celebrating traditional Italian cooking and the fresh ingredients associated with southern Italy. Guests can expect freshly prepared pastas, seasonal salads, house-made sauces, freshly baked breads, and an assortment of seafood served raw or grilled.
Crudo selections, Italian-inspired desserts, and house-made gelato will further complement the menu. One particularly interesting feature will be a dedicated selection of meatball and beverage pairings, bringing a playful twist to a beloved Italian comfort food.
The bar will also serve Italian street food and small plates, making it an appealing destination for guests looking to enjoy cocktails and appetizers without a full dining experience. An exclusively Italian wine list and a cocktail program featuring classic Italian drinks alongside original creations will complete the offering.
Whether for a leisurely lunch, a romantic dinner, or a gathering with friends, Mercante is being designed to celebrate the social traditions that make Italian dining so memorable.
Live Piano Music and an Elegant Supper Club Experience
Beyond its food and waterfront setting, Mercante will introduce an entertainment component inspired by classic European supper clubs. The planned program includes live piano performances, jazz, curated music, occasional live bands, and karaoke.
Rather than operating like a traditional nightclub, the concept will focus on creating an atmosphere where dining, music, and conversation come together. Guests can expect an elegant evening experience that gradually transitions from dinner into entertainment, reflecting Nicola Siervo's extensive background in Miami's restaurant and nightlife industries.
This combination of Italian hospitality, live music, and waterfront ambiance could make Mercante an appealing addition to Miami's growing collection of destination restaurants.
A Partnership Shaping the Future of Miami River Hospitality
The project brings together Nicola Siervo and Roman Jones, two hospitality operators with established connections to Miami's dining and entertainment landscape.
Siervo has spent nearly four decades helping shape the city's restaurant and nightlife culture, while Jones and House Kiki have played an important role in establishing the Miami River as a popular destination through successful concepts such as Kiki on the River and Habibi.
Mercante will add a different dimension to the group's waterfront portfolio, introducing Italian coastal cuisine and a more traditional supper-club atmosphere.
Miami River Continues to Evolve as a Lifestyle Destination
The arrival of Mercante reflects the broader transformation of the Miami River neighborhood. Once primarily known as a working waterfront, the area has increasingly attracted restaurants, entertainment venues, residential developments, and lifestyle destinations.
As Miami continues to expand beyond its traditional hotspots, neighborhoods like the Miami River are gaining attention for their waterfront character, proximity to Downtown and Brickell, and growing collection of hospitality concepts.
With its planned January 2027 opening, Mercante is shaping up to be one of the notable upcoming restaurant additions to Miami's dining scene. Its combination of Italian Riviera-inspired cuisine, elegant interiors, live entertainment, and direct waterfront access offers a fresh interpretation of the city's signature dining lifestyle.
For residents, visitors, and those exploring Miami's luxury real estate market, the restaurant is another example of how the city's neighborhoods continue to evolve through new dining and lifestyle experiences.
