All retail and office space at Sawyer's Walk has been fully leased, and the project is on track for completion this summer.
As the most expansive mixed-use development in Overtown in decades, it encompasses an impressive 1.5 million square feet.
The project will incorporate 175,000 square feet of retail space, featuring a 50,000-square-foot Target store, a 25,000-square-foot Aldi supermarket, and fresh outlets for Ross Dress for Less, Five Below, Burlington, and Tropical Smoothie Cafe.
Additionally, the development will include 130,000 square feet of office space. MSC Group has committed to occupying the entire office area and is dedicating a $100 million investment to construct a new headquarters complex, which will serve as a base for hundreds of employees.
Above the commercial and office spaces, there will be a residential tower featuring 578 housing units, primarily designated for low-income seniors. These units will be allocated for seniors with incomes at or below an average of 60 percent of the Area Median Income.
The development includes the construction of over 1,000 parking spaces to cater to the parking needs of the various components of the project.
Amenities for the residential section will encompass a rooftop swimming pool and sun deck, featuring outdoor seating and grilling stations. Additionally, residents will have access to a fitness center and a clubhouse.
A 25,000-square-foot plaza is currently under construction, designed to include a pedestrian promenade complete with outdoor seating and a children's playground. Importantly, this space will be open to the public.
The public-private partnership is a joint effort involving the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency, Miami-Dade County’s Department of Public Housing and Community Development, and the collaboration of Commissioners Christine King and Keon Hardemon.
