A Miami-based partnership has proposed redeveloping the Whale & Star building in Wynwood into an eight-story mixed-use complex that will combine hotel and condominium units.
The project will encompass 246,307 square feet, featuring 214 hotel rooms, 87 condominium units, 11,350 square feet of commercial space, and 87 parking spaces. The hotel, branded and managed by Cloud One Hotels, will be complemented by residential condos on the upper floors (six through eight), ranging from 406-square-foot studios to 1,592-square-foot loft-style units with up to three bedrooms and mezzanine decks.
The design for the redevelopment is being led by Hollywood-based O’Donnell Dannwolf and Partners Architects Inc., in collaboration with HWKN Architecture. The complex will include 8,935 square feet of ground-floor commercial space, along with a rooftop restaurant and bar, which will feature a pool and gym. Condo residents will have access to the hotel's services and amenities, enhancing the blend of residential and hospitality experiences.
Goldman Global Arts, known for their work on Wynwood Walls, will curate artwork and murals throughout the development.
