The Standard Hotel in South Beach is set for a proposed renovation and expansion, according to a new city filing. One wing of the hotel is slated for renovation, while another will be redeveloped. Although the number of hotel rooms will remain unchanged, six residential units will be added.
The design team for the project includes the Bjarke Ingels Group and Kobi Karp Architecture. Investors involved in the project include Barry Sternlicht, Bjarke Ingels, Marcelo Claure, Peter Thiel, and Antonio de la Rúa. A hearing before the Miami Beach Design Review Board is scheduled for October 1.
