Chef Raheem Sealey's journey from the kitchens of St. Croix to Miami's dynamic food scene is a testament to his passion and dedication. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Miami, Sealey has honed his skills at renowned establishments such as Pao, ZUMA, and KYU. His innovative approach to cuisine garnered attention with his Drinking Pig BBQ concept, showcasing his flair for bold, smoky flavors. With Shiso, Chef Sealey brings his boundary-pushing vision to the heart of Wynwood, offering a menu that seamlessly blends his Caribbean roots with Japanese culinary techniques.
 
The Menu: A Fusion of Flavors

Shiso's menu is designed for sharing, encouraging a communal dining experience that mirrors the social nature of both Caribbean and Japanese cultures. Notable dishes include:
  • Shiso Chicken Please: A Cornish hen served two ways—half smoked and half fried—accompanied by a creamy white barbecue sauce.  
  • Oxtail Gunkan: Smoked barbecue oxtail layered with pickle relish, rice, house-made oxtail jus, and wrapped in nori paper.
  • Sake-Glazed Creamed Corn: A unique side dish that combines the sweetness of corn with the umami depth of sake.
  • Sticky Ribs with Furikake: Tender ribs glazed to perfection and sprinkled with Japanese seasoning for an added flavor kick

The design of Shiso, crafted by House of L Designs, mirrors the restaurant's culinary philosophy by blending raw and refined elements. Exposed concrete beams adorned with vibrant graffiti art coexist with an illuminated quartz stone bar, creating an atmosphere that is both edgy and sophisticated. Glossy corridors reveal weathered brick, while serpentine banquettes offer sweeping views of Miami's skyline. Upstairs, a 6,500-square-foot rooftop oasis features a 170-seat dining area, a racetrack-shaped bar with a retractable roof, and semi-private cabanas nestled within a lush garden of palms and greenery.
