The Florida Legislature, along with Governor Ron DeSantis, has given the green light to a project that aims to enhance traffic flow and ensure pedestrian safety by completely redesigning the street. This project will also pay homage to Morris Lapidus' vision, which went unrealized. It includes a "Lapidus Arch" that will integrate Lincoln Road from the bay to the ocean, bringing a sense of unity to the area.

SOBE SEA, with the support of Commissioner Fernandez, aims to extend the upgrades to the 200 and 300 blocks of Lincoln Road. This expansion will create a pedestrian-friendly transformation that stretches up to Washington Avenue. Peter Kanavos, a representative of SOBE SEA, emphasizes the need for community support to advance these initiatives. Local business owners, residents, and property holders are encouraged to work together to make this project a success.

The project leaders have received an endorsement from the Historic Preservation Board. They plan to present a final development agreement to the City Commission in early summer 2024. After approval, a Request for Proposals will be issued to begin construction. The primary objective of the project is to combat crime and deterioration along Lincoln Road and revitalize Miami Beach's urban core.

Miami Beach is currently experiencing a wave of investment aimed at revitalizing the area. This includes the development of new luxury residential properties, Class A office spaces, and a $60 million upgrade of the retail district known as the James Corner plan, led by the City. The recent investments made by the owners of the Ritz-Carlton and Sagamore Hotel further demonstrate their commitment to enhancing the overall visitor experience in Miami Beach, which promises a bright future for the area's urban landscape.
